SeaVees celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps with the creation of the 09/61 Volunteer Plimsoll - honoring the September 1961 signing of the Peace Corps Act. Through an exclusive partnership with the National Peace Corps Association, SeaVees will make a donation for each pair sold to the planned Peace Corps commemorative in Washington, D.C. SeaVees is proud to support the ideals of the Peace Corps - truly one of the best and bravest ideas of the past half century in bringing us closer to understanding and tolerance - preconditions for peace.
Our 09/61 Volunteer Plimsoll is inspired by the founding of the Peace Corps and its ongoing mission. After we cut and sew our canvas and suede uppers, we salt-wash each pair for over 90 minutes for a soft, perfectly faded finish. For maximum comfort, we line our uppers and footbed in naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic bamboo canvas. Collar and tongue lining features our 60’s-era seersucker fabric. Flat eyelets are antique nickel. Thin laces are waxed cotton. Our traditional calendar outsole is made with genuine gum rubber for a softer, more elastic result.
